Bug Out Bags For City Dwellers

So, you have heard a lot of talk about bug out bags and kind of know what they are but you can't decide if you really need one because you live in a city. You're probably thinking they are just for people that live in the country and for people that have survivor skills. 

It's true that people that live in the country do more for themselves but that doesn't mean that you can't learn how to survive in the wild if you had to. Living on a farm or ranch means that it is a necessity to be able to fix your equipment, control your water supply, raise crops and critters and do all the chores that come along with it. 

Where we decide to live is a choice that we all make so we must adapt to the path we have chosen. Should you happen to be on your way home but can't travel your normal path, it could take you hours or even days to get home in a disaster situation. The supplies in your bug out bag will be your means to survive. If you are stuck at the office, you would also have a means of staying alive if the power goes out or gas lines erupt. I know we don't like to think about such things, but it is up to each of us to take responsibility for ourselves and our family. 

Our world, at present, is unstable so we need to plan to get a bug out bag stored and ready to go should the occasion arise. You could build one in a week end or just go on line and order a prepacked bag. Either way, you will be prepared for a disaster Take time to read a survival guide and do a practice run with your bug out bag. 

Take the family or a friend and go camping and use only the supplies in your bag. This way you will know if you can handle the load without injury. Remember to replenish your bug out bag when you get back from your adventure.
